FILM PROJECTS

Personal Stories Project

"The Personal Stories Project" is a series of narrated experiences that students within the San Dieguito Unified School District have truly faced. The goal of this project is to help us empathize with one another, serve as a reminder that we are not alone in our experiences, and amplify Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) voices.

I co-conceptualized, co-developed, and co-filmed this project.

What is Diversify Our Narrative SDUHSD?

I co-filmed, co-interviewed, and co-edited this DON promotion for my school's news channel.

Raven Diversity Network

Students within our school's "Diversity Network" encourage peers to sign a letter that demands for a diverse education and to submit public comments requesting that this subject becomes a priority for the upcoming Board meeting.

I co-filmed, co-interviewed, and edited this promotion for my school's news channel.

WEBINARS & MEETINGS

"Diversify Our Classroom" Webinar

This is Diversify Our Narrative SDUHSD's first webinar, and it was completely student-led. We had participation from students, teachers, parents, and community members from across the district with 120 RSVPs and over 90 attendees. This webinar took about three months to plan, including finding speakers, building the content, designing the slides, and marketing to our peers.

I designed the intro and outro slides. I also welcomed attendees into the webinar.

Meeting with the School Board

SDUHSD student equity advocates from Diversify Our Narrative (DON) and Encinitas 4 Equality (E4E) Youth had the opportunity to present directly to the SDUHSD School Board to display our efforts in diversifying high school curriculum and bringing empowerment to students of color in SDUHSD.

I invite the Board members to our webinar at 8:36.

SOCIAL MEDIA

We regularly posted meeting and coalition updates, call-to-actions, and educational posts to our Instagram account (@DiversifyOurNarrativeSDUHSD). As social media manager, I designed many of these posts. Typically two people on our team would research and craft the dialogue, while I translated the text into cohesive slides and engaging designs. Then, I would write a caption and post it to our network of 400+ peers.
